We talked to Philip about what led him to become a realtor and why he loves helping people get homes!
What made you want to become a realtor?
Prior to real estate, I worked for the F.B.I. I enjoyed my time there. And the main reason I left was to take on a new challenge. I was ready to make a big impact for the real estate team my brother started 15 years ago, the 12:45 Team with Keller Williams Real Estate.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
I am passionate about building relationships. Being with people, helping people. And it’s exciting to do this while accomplishing my client’s real estate goals. There are two things I can control in real estate: communication and negotiation, both of which I also enjoy. And communication and negotiation are very important in getting the best deal for my clients.
What’s your best piece of advice for a first-time homebuyer?
There are agents who work as door openers. Their only value is opening doors, showing homes, and then they are eager to throw their money away. One thing I’ve learned is, “in the absence of value, money is an issue.”
Know that buying a home is a lot more than having someone who just opens a door for you. Make sure you work with professionals who have a track record of success. Ask for references. Look at reviews. Check their record of sales. Ask what services they provide. Hold them accountable for what they say they will do for you.
